Why E4Efficient?
When I turned 40, I entered a new chapter of life. My mindset, my priorities, my insecurities all changed. And now in my mid-40s, I can only look back at all the challenges I’ve had, and I am beyond grateful because they have shaped me into the person I am today. One thing that has stayed consistent, is my love of organization and propensity to be efficient. I can’t help myself! It takes a huge conscious effort to NOT be efficient.
My husband would always joke: “Didn’t you know "E is for Efficient?”. And that’s how this idea started. I was Efficient in graduate school, Efficient at my demanding job in the healthcare industry, Efficient in establishing a family. Then the family broke the Efficiency flow. As hard as I tried to be efficient, I couldn’t accomplish everything I wanted. I couldn’t control everything I wanted. My kids wouldn’t move at the same pace or same schedule that I wanted. I had to realize that I now lived with 3 little people, who had their own schedules, their own tendencies and their own preferences. In order to survive, my ever-so-patient husband often reminded me that E does not have to equal Efficient.
So I slowed down, as much as any Type A person could. I journaled their little moments. I stopped to take pictures, I penciled in extra time, so that I wouldn’t rush them as they tried on their 3rd pair of socks. But I still stuck to my tendency for schedules and routines, which has benefited me tremendously.
I created this blog so that I could create a community to share my thoughts, ideas and tips that have made my life easier. I’d love to create a community that loves the simple and full life as much as I do, and so I’d love to hear your idea and tips too.
Until next time, take care
